Privacy Policy
This page describes what the Sole Scout iPhone app stores on your device and what it sends to us.
Last updated 4 September 2026.
No accounts
Sole Scout does not create accounts. There is no sign-in, no Apple ID collection, and no user profile on our servers.
What stays on your iPhone
Your personal library, reviews (including any review notes), mileage totals, and purchase price stay on the phone. Uninstalling the app removes that local data. We do not sync it to iCloud or to a Sole Scout backend.
Catalog and images
The app fetches the public shoe catalog and product images from Cloudflare. Those files are served from a read-only CDN. It does not receive your library, reviews, or analytics events.
Anonymous product events
To see which shoes people actually use, the app may send anonymous events to this site. Those events can include:
- an anonymous install ID generated on the device
- app version
- a shoe ID and, when relevant, a colorway ID
- library actions: add, retire, or return a shoe to active
- mileage updates as a number only
- review submitted: miles at review, scores, use type, buy-again, and fit
- product navigation: detail open, compare open, last-gen compare chip tap, retailer link tap
- a one-time first-open signal for that install
Events are stored in Cloudflare Analytics Engine as append-only records. Anonymous events are kept in Cloudflare Analytics Engine for 90 days, then deleted. They are not sent to Mixpanel, Firebase, or any other third-party analytics SDK.
Anonymous install ID
The install ID is a random UUID created once on the device. It is not an Apple ID, email, name, or advertising identifier. It only lets us count distinct installs without knowing who they are.
Optional feedback
If you submit Request a shoe, a Feature request, or Report a bug from Discover, that report leaves the phone and is sent to us. An optional photo is included only when you attach one. Device, iOS, app, and catalog diagnostics travel with the report so we can act on it. Feedback is not written to Analytics Engine.
What we do not collect
Anonymous product events do not include review note text, purchase price, search query text, your name, email, IDFA, or GPS. Unknown fields on an event are dropped. Optional feedback that you submit is separate from those events and may include the text and photo you provide, plus the current Discover search and filters when you request a shoe.
Mileage
Mileage is fitness-related data. When a mileage event is sent, we store only that number on the event. The running total in My Shoes remains on your iPhone.
Advertising and selling
Sole Scout does not show ads, does not sell personal data, and does not include third-party analytics SDKs.
